Pakistan Reaffirms Non-Recognition of Israel as PM Tasks Foreign Minister to Secure Flotilla Detainees

Islamabad says it is working via friendly states as well as international organisations to bring home Pakistanis detained after the Global Sumud flotilla interception.

Overview

  • Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif told JI chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman that Pakistan’s stance on Palestine remains unchanged and that the country has no diplomatic ties with Israel.
  • Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has been assigned to lead efforts for the release and repatriation of Pakistanis held after the Global Sumud/Global Freedom Flotilla was intercepted, including former senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan.
  • The government says it is engaging international organisations and partner countries to facilitate the detainees’ return despite the absence of direct channels with Israel.
  • Hafiz Naeem urged faster action, condemned the interception and arrests, and voiced reservations about President Donald Trump’s 20‑point Gaza plan, warning against any proposal seen as empowering Israel.
  • Shehbaz Sharif called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and reiterated support for a two‑state solution on pre‑1967 borders with Al‑Quds Al‑Sharif as the Palestinian capital, while also reviewing the situation in Kashmir with JI.
