Pakistan Navy Seizes Nearly $1 Billion in Narcotics During Arabian Sea Patrols

Saudi-led CTF 150 credits coordinated Operation AL MASMAK for enabling two rapid dhow boardings.

Overview

  • PNS Yarmook, operating under Combined Task Force 150 of the Combined Maritime Forces, conducted two interdictions within 48 hours in the Arabian Sea.
  • Both targets were unflagged dhows that were not transmitting Automatic Identification System signals and were determined to be stateless upon inspection.
  • On October 18, the crew seized more than two tons of crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $822.4 million.
  • A subsequent boarding recovered 350 kilograms of meth worth $140 million and 50 kilograms of cocaine valued at $10 million.
  • CTF 150 reported that the drugs were tested aboard the ship and disposed of, while its commander, Commodore Fahad Aljoiad, lauded the operation as one of CMF’s most successful seizures and CENTCOM issued public congratulations.
