Overview
- The Pakistan Meteorological Department forecast a nationwide heatwave for May 7–11 driven by continental air that will keep conditions very hot and dry.
- Parts of Sindh and Balochistan are projected to reach 46–50°C in districts including Dadu, Jacobabad, Larkana, Sukkur, Sibi, Turbat and Panjgur.
- Southern Punjab and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are likely to hit 43–47°C in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Dera Ismail Khan, with 39–43°C expected in Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar and other upper Punjab and KP cities.
- Recent readings already touched 47°C in Dadu and 46°C in Mohenjo-Daro, while Karachi peaked near 35°C with higher evening humidity.
- Authorities advise people to avoid peak-hour sun, drink plenty of safe water, wear light clothing, and take extra care of children, older adults and those with health conditions.
