Pakistan Launches Nationwide Measles–Rubella Drive Through Nov. 29
Global partners back free vaccinations at clinics, schools, outreach sites, with provinces reporting strong early uptake.
Overview
- The Federal Directorate for Immunization began the campaign across all provinces from 17 to 29 November for children aged 6 to 59 months.
- Vaccines are being provided free of cost at fixed centers, mobile outreach points, schools, and seminaries.
- Oral polio drops are being given to children under five in selected areas in collaboration with the Polio Eradication Initiative and EPI teams.
- Early data show strong participation, including more than 1.2 million children vaccinated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the first three days.
- Local authorities are supervising rollout and directing district teams to reach every child, while preparations proceed for a separate polio campaign slated to start on 15 December with district readiness due by 10 December.
