Overview
- The National Disaster Management Authority forecast intermittent rainfall from October 5 to 7 affecting Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, with rain also expected over the upper Jhelum, Ravi and Sutlej catchments.
- Authorities warned that flows could rise in the Swat, Panjkora and Kabul rivers and that heavy rain may trigger landslides in Gilgit-Baltistan’s mountains.
- NDMA identified several landslide-prone routes and advised against non-essential mountain travel, listing Tor Ghar, Battagram, Shangla, Lower Kohistan, Tattapani, Gilgit and Hunza roads, as well as points on the Skardu and Skardu–Jaglot Road.
- Punjab’s disaster authority said most districts could see heavy rain through October 7, highlighted flash-flood risks in streams and nullahs, and flagged potential rapid rises in Rawalpindi, Murree and Galiyat.
- Commissioners across Punjab and key departments were placed on high alert, and the public was urged to follow official updates and local administration guidance.
