Pakistan Finalizes National RLNG Rollout for Household Connections

Streamlined applications alongside dedicated project offices aim to speed household access.

Overview

  • A meeting chaired by Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik approved the nationwide plan with OGRA and the heads of SNGPL and SSGCL in attendance.
  • Both gas utilities were ordered to establish Project Management Offices immediately to monitor applications, connections and grievance handling.
  • Consumers will be able to apply for new RLNG connections online via company websites and mobile apps in addition to local offices.
  • Utility chiefs said an ambitious target for new domestic connections will be set for the first year of the rollout.
  • Applicants who previously paid demand notes can qualify by submitting the differential amount with the security fee, as officials tout RLNG as about 30% cheaper than LPG and a safer household fuel.
