Pakistan Finalizes AJK Protest Deal as Cyclone Shakti Strengthens and Army Issues India Warning

A federal-led panel chaired by Amir Maqam will implement a 25-point relief and reform package agreed with the Azad Kashmir protesters.

  • The government and the Joint/People's Action Committee signed a 25-point agreement that ended days of protests in Azad Kashmir, with roads and markets reopening and demonstrators dispersing.
  • An implementation and monitoring committee led by Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Maqam—joined by federal, AJK and committee representatives—will enforce decisions and resolve disputes.
  • The package includes a judicial commission and ATC cases for violence, compensation equal to security personnel for those killed, Rs1 million for injured, government jobs for heirs, a cap of 20 on cabinet and secretaries, Rs10 billion to upgrade the power system, rapid funding for health cards, new education boards, and release of detainees held on Oct 2–3.
  • The Meteorological Department says the system south of Karachi has intensified into Cyclone Shakti about 360 km from the city, warning of rough seas, strong winds and advising fishermen to avoid deep waters through Oct 5.
  • Security forces report 14 militants from the group ‘Fitna Elahindustan’ killed in a Khuzdar operation, while ISPR condemned provocative Indian statements and warned Pakistan would respond decisively to any new conflict.
