Overview
- The PCB management committee finalised the Test pace group on Monday, June 29 and named Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Ali, Khurram Shehzad and uncapped Ubaid Shah with Aamer Jamal as the pace-bowling all-rounder.
- Senior quicks Shaheen Shah Afridi and Hasan Ali were left out of the Test contingency and Naseem Shah is reported to be out of contention for the West Indies tour.
- Ubaid Shah, 20, earns a maiden Test call-up after taking 72 first-class wickets in 16 matches and is the younger brother of Naseem Shah.
- Pakistan will depart for the West Indies on July 13, play a four-day warm-up from July 18 and two Tests in Trinidad on July 25–29 and August 2–6 before a three-Test England tour beginning August 19.
- Selectors told PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi they want to separate white-ball specialists from Test roles and refresh older players, a shift driven by recent Test losses and broader plans to name the full touring squad this week.
