Overview

• The Foreign Office said Shehbaz Sharif will head Pakistan’s delegation to the 80th UN General Assembly in New York beginning September 22.
• He will participate in a meeting of “select” Muslim leaders with President Donald Trump to discuss regional and international peace and security.
• His address is expected to urge action on prolonged occupation and denial of self-determination in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir and in Palestine, with particular emphasis on Gaza.
• On the sidelines he will attend high-level events including meetings of the UN Security Council, the Global Development Initiative and a special session on climate action.
• The prime minister will hold bilateral meetings with world leaders and senior UN officials, highlighting Pakistan’s Security Council role and commitment to multilateral cooperation.
