Pakistan Clears Over 2,100 Visas as Sikh Jatha Set to Travel Nov. 4–13 for Guru Nanak Celebrations

India restored approvals under the 1974 shrine protocol after a brief security-driven pause.

  • The Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi said it issued more than 2,100 visas to Indian Sikh pilgrims for the 10-day pilgrimage.
  • An official schedule places the main ceremony on November 5 at Gurdwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib, with visits to Panja Sahib and Kartarpur and border crossings via Wagah on November 4 and 13.
  • Pakistani authorities, including the Evacuee Trust Property Board, report that security, transport, accommodation and langar arrangements are in place with special teams deployed.
  • The SGPC said it received 1,796 visas from 1,802 passport applications, while local reporting puts the total issued at 2,185 across participating organisations.
  • Separate from the cross-border trip, Hyderabad will hold five days of events from November 1 to 5, including two Nagar Keertans and a November 5 congregation expected to draw over 25,000 devotees.
