Overview
- PMD forecasts the system entering late Dec 29–30, strengthening on Dec 30, spreading to northern and central regions by Dec 31, and lingering over the north until Jan 2.
- Northern tourist areas including Murree, Swat, Hunza, Naran, Skardu and Neelum Valley are expected to receive widespread moderate to heavy snowfall with risks to road and air travel.
- Karachi is likely to see light drizzle or rain on the night of Dec 30 with the minimum temperature potentially falling to around 11°C. PDMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa opened a 24‑hour emergency center, issued travel advisories, and warned of slippery or closed roads, landslides and avalanches, with a toll‑free helpline at 1700.
- NDMA and provincial forecasts call for rain, thunderstorms and hill snow in many Balochistan districts from Dec 29–31 and isolated light rain in parts of Sindh on Dec 30, with fog continuing in plains of Punjab and upper Sindh.
