Pair Who Used Grindr to Target Men Convicted in London Burglary and Fraud Spree

Detectives worked with LGBT+ advisers to support victims throughout a complex investigation.

Overview

  • Isleworth Crown Court convicted Rahmat Khan Mohammadi, 22, and Mohammed Bilal Hotak, 21, of burglary, fraud and theft on Tuesday.
  • The pair used Grindr to set up home meetings with men, tricked victims into revealing phone passcodes, then stole devices and valuables.
  • Police say the operation comprised 35 burglaries and 20 linked frauds affecting 22 victims across London between October 2024 and March.
  • The Met linked the men to the offences through extensive CCTV reviews, ANPR hits and analysis of thousands of phone records and messages.
  • Mohammadi was arrested on 3 April and Hotak on 24 April before being charged with multiple counts, and sentencing will take place at Isleworth Crown Court at a later date.
