Painter Arrested for Theft of Cash and Jewellery from Poonam Dhillon’s Mumbai Home
The accused, part of a painting crew, stole valuables from an unlocked cupboard and used the stolen money to host a party.
- Sameer Ansari, a 37-year-old painter, was arrested for stealing a diamond earring worth ₹1 lakh, ₹35,000 in cash, and $500 from actress Poonam Dhillon's Khar residence in Mumbai.
- The theft occurred between December 28, 2024, and January 5, 2025, while Ansari was part of a crew painting the flat.
- The stolen items were taken from an unlocked cupboard, and Ansari reportedly spent ₹9,000 of the stolen money to host a party for his colleagues.
- The theft was discovered on January 5 when Dhillon’s son Anmol returned from Dubai and noticed the valuables missing, prompting her manager to file a police complaint.
- Mumbai Police recovered ₹25,000 in cash, $500, and the diamond earring, and have charged Ansari under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.
