Overview
- At least 26 civilians, including two residents of Andhra Pradesh, were killed in a militant attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, 2025.
- The attackers claimed affiliation with The Resistance Front, an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, as security forces launched a nationwide manhunt.
- Retired banker J. S. Chandramouli from Visakhapatnam and architect Somisetti Madhusudhan Rao from Bengaluru were among the victims; both were part of a six-member tour group.
- Chandramouli’s body is being flown to Visakhapatnam, where Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will receive it and console the bereaved family.
- Madhusudhan Rao’s remains are being transported to Chennai and Kavali for final rites; both victims are remembered for their contributions to their communities.
