Overview

  • The team retroactively placed right-hander Michael King on the 15-day injured list as of August 11 due to left knee inflammation.
  • San Diego recalled RHP Randy Vásquez from Triple-A El Paso and tapped Wandy Peralta to open Friday’s series opener at Dodger Stadium.
  • With no structural damage found on MRI, King will be eligible to return around August 26 under the backdated IL timing.
  • Manager Mike Shildt plans to cover King’s innings using bulk-relief roles and internal depth, including Dylan Cease, Yu Darvish and Nick Pivetta.
  • King’s absence arrives as the Padres hold a one-game NL West lead over the Dodgers and seek to extend their five-game winning streak.
