Padma Awards 2024 Announced: 132 Honorees Include 30 Women and 8 Foreign Recipients

French nationals dominate foreign awardees, with Foxconn CEO Young Liu among the recipients of the Padma Bhushan.

India announced the recipients of the 2024 Padma Awards, one of the country's highest civilian honors, with 132 awardees including 30 women and 8 foreign recipients.
The awards are divided into three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri, with 5, 17, and 110 recipients respectively.
Among the foreign recipients, French nationals dominated with three awardees, including Fred Negrit for his contributions to Literature and Education.
Taiwanese business magnate Young Liu, CEO of Foxconn, was awarded the Padma Bhushan for his contributions to Trade and Industry.
The awards, established in 1954, are conferred based on recommendations by the Padma Awards Committee, headed by the Cabinet Secretary and constituted by the Prime Minister.
