Packers Claim Trevon Diggs Off Waivers After Cowboys Split Ahead of Playoffs

Dallas said the move followed an accumulation of performance and protocol issues involving the former All-Pro.

Overview

  • Green Bay was awarded the claim on Dec. 31, assuming Diggs’ contract and owing roughly $472,000 for Week 18 plus $58,823 if he is active.
  • The playoff-bound Packers, thin in the secondary after recent injured reserve moves, add Diggs alongside Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine and reunite him with former Cowboys teammate Micah Parsons.
  • Diggs played eight games this season with 25 tackles after a 2023 ACL tear, additional knee procedures, and a concussion he said occurred during a TV-mounting accident at home.
  • Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said Diggs violated team rules by not flying back with the team on Christmas and emphasized the release was a culmination of factors rather than one incident.
  • The 27-year-old signed a five-year, $97 million extension in 2023 with no guaranteed money beyond this season and has appeared in just 21 of 50 possible games since the deal.
