Overview

  • An 8.8-magnitude undersea earthquake off Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula on July 29 prompted tsunami warnings across the Pacific from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
  • Hawaii and Japan downgraded tsunami warnings to advisories by July 31 after monitoring confirmed wave impacts remained below damaging levels.
  • Disney’s Aulani Resort instructed guests to move to floors three and above during the warning and later informed them they could return to normal areas while avoiding the water.
  • Hawaii’s siren system sounded hourly to alert residents and visitors, and Japan’s Meteorological Agency had issued alerts for the entire eastern coast, including Chiba Prefecture near Tokyo Disney Resort.
  • No injuries or damage have been reported at Disney properties, though airports, ports and coastal services in affected regions remain under review as authorities continue to assess conditions.
