Overview
- Held at the Auditorio Gota de Plata in Pachuca on November 11, the investiture inducted 18 figures and brought the Hall’s membership to 180.
- Honorees spanned four categories — International, National/Liga MX, Femenil and Decanos — with Iker Casillas, Dunga, Ronald Koeman, Gary Lineker, René Higuita and Diego Forlán among the international entrants.
- Mexican and Liga MX figures recognized included Ignacio Ambriz, Gerardo Torrado, Juan Francisco Palencia, Luis Flores, Miguel España and Milton “Tita” Queiroz.
- Abby Wambach and Guadalupe Tovar were honored in the women’s category, while Osvaldo Castro, Bernardo “Manolete” Hernández, Ubaldo Fillol and José Martínez “Pirri” entered as decanos; the ceremony aired live on Claro Sports, TUDN and FOX.
- Casillas called his inclusion a bridge between Spanish and Mexican football, the program paid homage to journalists Paco Villa and André Marín, and a widely shared video showed Casillas urging persistent autograph seekers to stop repeating requests.
