Overview

  • Texas State’s Board of Regents unanimously approved a $5 million buyout of its Sun Belt affiliation to join the Pac-12 for the 2026–27 season while remaining in the Sun Belt through 2025–26.
  • The Pac-12 Board of Directors voted unanimously to admit Texas State, giving the conference eight football-sponsoring members and meeting NCAA FBS requirements.
  • Upon relaunch, the league will feature nine all-sports members—Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Oregon State, San Diego State, Utah State, Washington State and Texas State.
  • Commissioner Teresa Gould called Texas State a foundational member whose inclusion establishes the conference’s first presence in the Central Time Zone and Texas market.
  • The 2026 relaunch is supported by new and extended media rights agreements, including a five-year CBS partnership anchoring Pac-12 football and basketball coverage through 2031.
