• The Japan Sumo Association announced on Oct. 6 that Kotonowaka will not take part in the London exhibition scheduled for Oct. 15–19.
• Kotonowaka injured his right knee during the September tournament, was diagnosed with a medial collateral ligament injury, and withdrew from day 14.
