• Eddie Alfredo Cortez, 22, of Oxnard is charged with rape of an intoxicated person and kidnapping with intent to commit rape, according to Ventura County authorities.
• Cortez was arrested on Sept. 30, arraigned on Oct. 2, and pleaded not guilty to all counts, the District Attorney’s Office said.
• He remains in custody on $500,000 bail with an early disposition hearing set for Oct. 13 in Ventura County Superior Court.
• Investigators say Cortez contacted the 21-year-old victim via social media, drove her to the 100 block of Island View Drive, provided alcoholic drinks, and she then experienced nausea, dizziness, and loss of motor function.
