Overview

• Devon and Cornwall Police were called at around 8.20pm on July 29 after reports of two people in the sea at Mawgan Porth beach in Cornwall.
• Rescue efforts by members of the public, Coastguard Helicopter Rescue 924, Newquay and Padstow coastguard teams and ambulance crews recovered both men.
• The man in his 40s from Oxfordshire died at the scene despite emergency treatment, while the other man sustained minor injuries.
• Authorities have informed the deceased’s next of kin and confirmed the death is not suspicious before preparing a file for the coroner.
