Overview

  • Mitchell Owen will undergo a mandatory 12-day concussion stand-down after delayed symptoms from a bouncer in Darwin, sidelining him for Saturday’s third T20I in Cairns and all three ODIs.
  • Lance Morris reported lower back soreness and has returned to Perth for assessment, ruling him out of the series decider and putting his upcoming tours in doubt.
  • Matt Short’s side strain from the West Indies tour has not healed in time, ruling him out of both the final T20I and the three-match ODI series.
  • Aaron Hardie and Matthew Kuhnemann have been retained or added as cover for the injured players, bolstering Australia’s lineup for the ODIs.
  • The T20I series is level at 1–1 ahead of the decider in Cairns on August 16, with ODIs set for August 19 in Cairns and the remaining two matches in Mackay on August 22 and 24.
