Overview

• Asaduddin Owaisi said AIMIM will support Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy after a request from the Telangana Chief Minister’s Office, calling him a fellow Hyderabadi and respected jurist.
• Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy publicly thanked Owaisi and urged parties in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to back the INDIA bloc nominee.
• The vote is scheduled for September 9 with counting the same day, and the Vice-President also serves as Rajya Sabha chair.
• The NDA nominee is Maharashtra Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan, with support declared by YSRCP, TDP and Jana Sena in Andhra Pradesh, as well as AIADMK in Tamil Nadu, while BRS has yet to announce its stance.
• INDIA bloc allies including NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar), Samajwadi Party, DMK, Shiv Sena (UBT), AAP and Trinamool Congress are backing Reddy, and a YSRCP MP received interim bail to cast his vote.
