Overview
- Heavy pre-dawn showers led the IMD to issue an orange alert for Delhi and Gurugram and a yellow alert for Noida and Ghaziabad, with nowcast windows lasting until roughly 3:42 am in Delhi and 2:08 am in Gurugram.
- Safdarjung logged 10.3 mm between 11:30 pm and 5:30 am, with other stations reporting Palam 4.6 mm, Pitampura 13.5 mm, Mayur Vihar 11 mm, Pusa 8.5 mm, Janakpuri 4.5 mm, and Lodhi Road 13.2 mm.
- Gusty winds accompanied the rain, with 30–40 kmph widely and peaks near 50 kmph, and further light to moderate spells are forecast through Monday and into Tuesday with thunderstorms possible.
- Temperatures are projected to fall sharply, with the day’s high near 28–31°C and the minimum trending toward about 20°C by midweek as cooler northwesterlies set in.
- October rainfall is already well above normal at Safdarjung (51.8 mm so far, over three times the monthly average), and the rain and stronger winds have nudged AQI from 159 on Sunday to near 120 Monday morning with further improvement expected.
