Overview
- The blaze broke out around 2:44 a.m. on December 7 at Pollokshaws Parish Church on Shawbridge Street on Glasgow’s south side.
- Three Scottish Fire and Rescue Service appliances, including a high-reach unit, were deployed and remained on scene into late morning.
- Large sections of the nearly two-century-old building were gutted with a partial collapse, and drone images show the roof gone and the interior heavily charred.
- Flats on either side of the church were evacuated as a precaution, and authorities reported no injuries.
- Shawbridge Street is closed between both terminations of Shawholm Crescent, and officials expect to investigate the cause once the site is safe to enter.
