Overnight Farm Fire in Steinhöring Draws 240 Firefighters, Home Preserved

Investigators are examining the remote farm site to determine the cause.

Overview

  • Shortly after 12:30 a.m. on December 6, a large annex barn at an Aussiedlerhof in Steinhöring’s Kraiß district was found in full blaze on first arrival.
  • More than 240 firefighters from the counties of Ebersberg, Erding, Munich and Rosenheim were mobilized under the command of Steinhöring fire chief Anton Höfer.
  • Because of scarce on-site water, commanders rapidly assembled tanker and swap-body vehicles, staging over 50,000 liters within about 30 minutes.
  • Crews used multiple hose lines and an aerial ladder, opened sections of the house roof to reach hotspots, and stopped the fire from spreading to the residence with no injuries reported.
  • The annex sustained heavy damage, resources began to stand down around 3 a.m., and the criminal police launched an on-site investigation with the total loss not yet known.
