Overnight Closures to Affect M3, M27 and A34 This Weekend

National Highways says the night-time programme aims to speed repairs and cut daytime disruption.

Overview

  • National Highways has scheduled overnight closures starting Friday night, July 3, with the M3 northbound carriageway shut between Junctions 9 and 8 overnight on July 3, 4 and 5 for major improvement works.
  • The M3 southbound will have a carriageway closure between Junctions 1 and 2 on the night of July 3 with work timed roughly from 11pm to 5.30am for routine maintenance.
  • On the M27 eastbound, entry and exit slip roads and parts of the Junction 3 roundabout are due to close from about 9pm on Friday, July 3 to about 6am on Saturday for electrical works.
  • Oxfordshire works on the A34 and staged M40 closures run through to Monday, July 6, with carriageway and slip-road closures at Abingdon generally scheduled between about 8pm and 6am.
  • Motorists are asked to allow extra travel time, follow signed diversion routes and check live updates from Traffic England or the National Highways contact centre because overnight working may still cause slow traffic after roads reopen.
