Overview
- National Highways has scheduled overnight carriageway and slip-road closures across southern and western England for the weekend of 6–9 November 2026, with most work running between 9pm and 6am to limit daytime disruption.
- The M3 will be closed between junctions 8 and 9 overnight through to 6am on Monday 9 November, and the northbound entry slip at Junction 9 remains shut as part of a £280m reconstruction due for completion in 2028.
- The M5 has multiple overnight closures over the weekend, including a full carriageway closure between junctions 7 and 9, which could affect longer distance traffic to the South West and holiday routes.
- Separate works affect the M27 with planned westbound slip closures at junctions 2 and 9, and the M4 in Wiltshire is entering a £20m repair programme that will close the westbound carriageway between junctions 16 and 17 overnight on 12–13 November to set up a 50mph contraflow.
- Drivers are being asked to follow National Highways’ published diversions rather than rely on satnavs, to allow extra journey time for HGVs on designated routes and to avoid unsuitable local roads during closures.
