Overview

• Crews were dispatched just after 1 a.m. to the Corbin Greens Apartments on Russell Street near Lamar Avenue.
• Firefighters from Overland Park and Leawood found an active kitchen fire on the second floor and carried an adult female from the landing.
• The fire was knocked down in about 10 minutes and was contained to a single apartment.
• The rescued woman suffered moderate smoke inhalation and was transported in stable condition as a precaution.
• Other residents were allowed to return to their units, and investigators believe the cause was a cooking fire.
