Overhead-Line Failures and Munich Works Disrupt German Rail Services

Munich operations resumed after an overhead-line repair, with Celle’s outage still limiting the HannoverHamburg corridor.

Overview

  • Scheduled maintenance at München Ostbahnhof restricts the Stammstrecke through Monday at 05:00, with altered service on S1, S3, S4 and S5.
  • An overhead line between München Hauptbahnhof and München-Pasing ruptured, blocking traffic for about an hour before repairs restored operations.
  • Deutsche Bahn warns of ongoing reroutes, delays and short-notice cancellations in Munich despite trains running again.
  • DB Regio reported six affected regional lines toward the Allgäu and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and passengers were advised to use S3, S6 and S8 between Hauptbahnhof and Pasing.
  • A separate failure near Celle prompted the evacuation of more than 140 passengers and continues to disrupt the HannoverHamburg route with long-distance skips, Metronom limits and S-Bahn substitutions.
