Over 8.1 Million Covered by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme
By disbursing Rs 5,878.85 crore in coverage, the program has expanded tertiary care access across Tamil Nadu.

- More than 8.13 million state residents have received health insurance benefits amounting to Rs 5,878.85 crore under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme.
- The scheme has financed medical treatment for 2.58 million beneficiaries in government hospitals at a cost of Rs 2,750.28 crore.
- Tamil Nadu’s 108 ambulance service has assisted 7.985 million people including 1.9 million pregnant mothers and almost 1.4 million road accident victims.
- The government established the country’s second National Centre for Ageing in Chennai with an outlay of Rs 151 crore.
- Additional initiatives include establishment of the Kalaignar Centenary Special Hospital, distribution of Mother and Children Nutrition Kits, the Tamil Nadu Health System Reform Project and a School Children’s Eye Protection Scheme.
