Over 7.6 Lakh Indians Studied Abroad in 2024, Down From 2023 Peak

A Lok Sabha reply based on immigration counts shows the ministry relies on BoI data instead of a separate registry.

More than 7.6 lakh Indian students went abroad for higher studies in 2024, according to Bureau of Immigration data shared in the Lok Sabha. The figure shows a slight fall from the peak of nearly 8.95 lakh in 2023.
