Over 541,000 Snow Tires Recalled for Failing North American Traction Standards

Prinx Chengshan Tire North America recalls multiple tire models after safety concerns raised by U.S. regulators.

Prinx Chengshan Tire North America is recalling more than 541,000 snow tires in the U.S. due to insufficient snow traction performance.
The affected models include over 100 sizes of Fortune Tormenta and Prinx Hicountry tires, which carry a three-peak mountain snowflake symbol on their sidewalls.
While the tires passed European traction tests, they likely do not meet North American safety standards, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The NHTSA warns that inadequate snow traction increases the risk of crashes during winter conditions.
Prinx Chengshan is working on a resolution and plans to notify affected customers by mail starting February 1, 2025.
