Detainees Charged with Rioting and Arson, One Hospitalized, Amid Ongoing Federal Investigation

Over 40 detainees at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Columbia, South Carolina, were involved in a riot on Sunday, November 12, 2023.
The rioters allegedly set bedsheets on fire and armed themselves with blunt objects.
14 detainees are being charged with rioting, two with arson, and one with possession of contraband.
One detainee was hospitalized due to smoke inhalation.
The Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center is currently under federal investigation for civil rights violations.
