Over 22,000 Pounds of Johnsonville Cheddar Bratwurst Recalled Due to Plastic Contamination

The recall, affecting products distributed in 10 states, follows consumer complaints and includes no reports of injuries so far.

  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has confirmed the recall of 22,672 pounds of Johnsonville cheddar bratwurst due to potential hard plastic contamination.
  • The recall was prompted by two consumer complaints reporting pieces of hard plastic in the bratwurst, with no injuries reported as of now.
  • The affected products were produced on February 5, 2025, and are packaged in 19-ounce trays containing five sausages, marked with package code 'B9FOD' and establishment number 'Est. 1647'.
  • The recalled bratwurst was distributed to retail stores in Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
  • Consumers are advised to discard the product or return it to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement, with further inquiries directed to Johnsonville's consumer relations coordinator.
