Over 20 People Rescued from Ice Floe on Lake Erie

No injuries reported as U.S. Coast Guard and local agencies respond to the incident.

More than 20 people were stranded on an ice floe on Lake Erie near Catawba Island in Ottawa County.
The U.S. Coast Guard and other agencies were notified of the situation at 10:21 a.m.
Nine people were rescued by the Coast Guard, four by local firefighters, and seven were able to self-rescue using their own airboat.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
The Coast Guard has reminded the public to exercise caution around ice formations, as they can quickly become hazardous.
