The controversial event was part of the school's
Wonderful Week of Fundraising
which raised $152,830.38 for Not Your Average Joe Coffee, a business that employs individuals with disabilities.
Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters and Senator Ted Cruz have both condemned the event, with Walters calling it
disgusting
and Cruz labeling it as
child abuse.
The school district defended the fundraiser, stating that student participation was voluntary and no faculty or staff were involved in the toe-licking game.
