Overview

  • An evacuation order was issued at 6 p.m. PT for 325 addresses, with more than 1,000 additional properties on alert in the Peachland area.
  • BC Wildfire Service reports the fire is Rank 3 and remains out of control after rapid growth Thursday afternoon.
  • More than 40 personnel are on scene along with four helicopters, air tankers, local fire departments and structure-protection crews.
  • The wildfire is suspected to be human-caused, with the formal cause still under review.
  • Emergency supports are operating at the Peachland Community Centre as the fire threatens the Munro Lake Forest Service Road and the Peachland Main Road.
