Adams' Deputy Mayor Suggests Santos May Have Staged Car Break-In, Disputes Claim of Car Being New

Ousted New York Republican Rep. George Santos has accused New York City’s Democratic Mayor Eric Adams of failing to maintain city safety after his car was broken into, and has called for Adams to resign.
Santos, who was recently expelled from the House amid allegations of lying and fraud, posted a video showing his car with a shattered window and blamed Adams for the city's deteriorating safety.
Adams’ deputy mayor for communications, Fabien Levy, responded to Santos’ post, suggesting that Santos may have broken into the car himself and disputing Santos' claim that the car was new.
Santos' tenure in the House was mired in controversy over allegations of lying to campaign donors and making false statements about his personal background. He was indicted on 23 criminal counts, including money laundering, theft of public funds, and false statements to Congress.
A documentary about Santos based on Mark Chiusano’s book “The Fabulist: The Lying, Hustling, Grifting, Stealing, and Very American Legend of George Santos,” is reportedly in development at HBO.
