OU Unveils $450 Million West-Side Overhaul of Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium

The privately financed plan reduces capacity to make room for premium spaces.

Overview

  • OU released renderings for The Palace Project as regents cleared the renovation to move forward.
  • Construction is slated to start after the 2027 season and finish before the 2029 opener.
  • The west side will add a full-length press box, 47 suites, 64 loge boxes, roughly 4,000 club seats, and six club and lounge areas.
  • Upgrades include new gates, elevators, expanded concourses and restrooms, additional ADA seating, and enhanced lighting and sound.
  • A stadium-wide reseating will begin ahead of 2028 with in-person meetings for season ticket holders, as students and fans voice both enthusiasm and concerns over fewer seats and potential pricing.
