Overview

  • Natural Resources Canada announced nearly $22.7 million for eight projects in B.C., with Minister Gregor Robertson delivering the update in Victoria on behalf of Energy Minister Tim Hodgson.
  • More than 480 chargers will be installed along highway corridors, in public spaces, at workplaces and at multi‑unit residential buildings to serve current and prospective EV drivers.
  • BC Hydro received the largest share across multiple awards to deploy hundreds of Level 3 fast chargers in community and corridor locations, including units ranging from 50–199 kW and additional high‑power sites at 200 kW or more.
  • The City of Victoria will add municipal fleet charging with 26 Level 2 units plus four fast chargers up to 320 kW near workplaces, and will install 22 Level 2 and one Level 3 charger in village centres serving residents without home charging.
  • The District of Saanich secured $350,000 to install 40 Level 2 chargers and two fast chargers (100–199 kW) to support municipal operations and fleet electrification, with officials framing the investments as practical steps to build a cleaner, more competitive economy.
