Oshawa Teen Charged in Fatal Head-On Collision Linked to Crash Involving Doug Ford’s Vehicle

Identified as Jaiwin Kirubananthan, the Oshawa teenager is charged with dangerous driving causing death after fleeing the scene of the August 3 collision.

  • Ontario Provincial Police say Kirubananthan is the same person charged after a January crash in which a vehicle struck an OPP cruiser while Premier Doug Ford was travelling on Highway 401.

  • Kirubananthan faces charges of dangerous driving causing death, three counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, failing to remain at the scene and public mischief.
  • The Ontario Provincial Police laid the charges on August 12 and the case will now proceed through Ontario’s criminal courts.
