- Ontario Provincial Police say Kirubananthan is the same person charged after a January crash in which a vehicle struck an OPP cruiser while Premier Doug Ford was travelling on Highway 401.
- The August 3 head-on collision on Highway 48 in Whitchurch-Stouffville killed Andrew Cristillo and injured his wife and three daughters, according to a GoFundMe page by Christina Cristillo.
- Police allege the driver of the other vehicle fled the scene but was apprehended a short time later near Whitchurch-Stouffville.
- Kirubananthan faces charges of dangerous driving causing death, three counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, failing to remain at the scene and public mischief.
- The Ontario Provincial Police laid the charges on August 12 and the case will now proceed through Ontario’s criminal courts.
