OSFA to Begin Wednesday as IOSFA Is Dissolved
Unclear Treasury support leaves the first cash infusions to the armed forces.
Overview
- OSFA, which starts operations Wednesday, will cover 343,307 military affiliates as IOSFA moves into liquidation under retired colonel Ariel Guzmán through February 2027.
- Officials say the Army will send the first funds, with the Navy and Air Force to follow, while the National Treasury and Economy Ministry have not confirmed any contribution.
- Service suspensions persist in cities including Mar del Plata, Bahía Blanca, Trelew, Mendoza and Tucumán, forcing many members to pay out of pocket and prompting some court filings.
- A new OSFA board led by retired general Sergio Maldonado plans a Plan Integral de Prestaciones, stronger checks on medical practices and cheaper drug purchasing to stabilize the system.
- Reported liabilities of roughly 210–250 billion pesos trace to years of underpaid employer contributions, and a separate entity for federal security forces, OSFFESEG, is slated to launch on August 1.
