  • Prosecutors say the ring ran slot machines, a lottery and a gambling house out of Fusion Social Club in Kissimmee and that Lopez personally pocketed up to $700,000.
  • Sheriff Marcos Lopez was first arrested on June 5 on federal racketeering charges and remains jailed on a $1 million bond that must be posted with legally sourced funds.
  • Gov. Ron DeSantis suspended Lopez and installed a Florida Highway Patrol official as interim sheriff after a joint investigation by Homeland Security Investigations and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
  • One co-defendant, Ying Zhang, is still a fugitive as authorities pursue leads under a sealed 255-page affidavit in the ongoing state and federal probe.
