Tatum O'Neal overdosed on prescription pain medication in May 2020 and suffered a severe stroke, leaving her in a coma for six weeks.
O'Neal has spent the past three years recovering her ability to speak, read, and write through rehabilitation and therapy.
Diagnosed with aphasia, a language disorder, O'Neal has made progress regaining her memory and communication skills by attending 12-step meetings and speech therapy.
O'Neal's children feared she wouldn't survive after experiencing cardiac arrest, seizures, and possible loss of speech, hearing and sight.
Now committed to sobriety, O'Neal hopes sharing her story will help others struggling with addiction and health issues.
