Overview

• Rosales was convicted last week of capital murder for the Jan. 23, 2022, shooting of Cpl. Charles Galloway during a traffic stop
• On Friday, jurors deliberated for over four hours in the punishment phase before unanimously sentencing him to death instead of life behind bars
• Dashcam footage played at trial showed Rosales firing an AK-47 nearly two dozen times at Galloway’s patrol car, killing the 47-year-old officer instantly
• After the shooting, Rosales fled to Mexico and was apprehended by authorities there, concluding a 25-year manhunt that began after a previous aggravated assault conviction
• Cpl. Galloway had more than 12 years of service with the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office and was known for training and mentoring younger deputies
