Osaka Marketplace to Launch Third Bay Area Store in Foster City

City officials say the 35,000-square-foot lease at Edgewater Place will repurpose a vacant Lucky supermarket into an authentic Japanese grocery this November.

Overview

  • Osaka Marketplace has finalized a lease at 919 Edgewater Blvd in Foster City and confirmed a November 2025 opening for its third regional location.
  • The new store will occupy the former Lucky supermarket’s 35,000-square-foot space at Edgewater Place Shopping Center.
  • This will join Osaka Marketplace’s existing Fremont store and its upcoming Pleasant Hill location across from Century Theaters.
  • The retailer will feature Japanese groceries, fresh produce, seafood, ready-to-eat meals and specialty imported goods under one roof.
  • Mayor Stacy Jimenez and Foster City officials praised the project for revitalizing underused retail space and meeting growing demand for Asian specialty markets.
