Osaka Expo to Expand Park-and-Ride Shuttle Services From Aug. 18

Officials say rising attendance has strained off-site parking transfers, prompting route tweaks with a unified service planned for mid-September.

Overview

  • Beginning Aug. 18, morning 8 a.m. shuttle trips from Maishima will increase by 18 to 76 services and evening runs after 8 p.m. will grow by 38 to 155.
  • At Sakai, morning departures at 8 a.m. will rise by one to 24 trips and evening services after 8 p.m. will jump by 28 to 80.
  • Return shuttle operations from the Asia Pacific Trade Center and Cosmosquare Station will be discontinued and outbound feeder buses will conclude by mid-afternoon each day.
  • By mid-September, all outbound and return Park-and-Ride routes will be consolidated into a single streamlined service across the network.
  • The Park-and-Ride system directs visitors to dedicated Maishima and Sakai parking lots before boarding buses to the Yumeshima Expo site to alleviate traffic near the venue.
